The Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort is located at 71 Sea World Drive, Main Beach, Gold Coast, Queensland.

The Residential registration desk will be located in the Grand Terrace.

Where will the Welcome Drinks and the Residential Dinner be held?

The Welcome Drinks will be held in the Grand Terrace.

The Residential Dinner will be held in the Grand Ballroom.

Attendance at the Welcome Drinks and Residential Dinner are included in the both-day registration fee. What is the Residential Dinner theme?

All you need is love… and rock ’n’ roll! Experience the rock star treatment as you enjoy a three-course meal and premium beverage package at the Residential Dinner. Throw on some denim, a leather jacket, some sunglasses and a whole lot of attitude, and walk this way to the dancefloor where you will rock onto the sounds of the Rolling Stones, the Beetles, Bon Jovi, Queen and Aerosmith all night long. You can’t always get what you want… but you can be a rock star for a night!

What is the dress code?

We recommend business or smart casual attire for those attending the Debate, Welcome Drinks and Residential sessions. Conference rooms are often cooler than many people find comfortable so we recommend bringing a sweater or light jacket.

For the Residential Dinner, we encourage guests to embrace the rock ’n’ roll theme by adding in some leather, denim, a rock band t-shirt, sunglasses and the like – and we will be handing out bandannas at the door to help you join in on the fun.

Is QLS or FLPA membership required to attend the Residential?

No. However, there is reduced pricing for QLS, FLPA and Queensland Bar members.

What is included in my Residential registration fee?

Attendance at all Residential sessions as well as morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on the day/s of registration. Delegates also receive access to all presenter materials. Can registrations be shared?

No. Each registration is limited to one delegate only and cannot be shared; ie two individuals cannot swap between sessions and/or days.

Can I transfer my registration?

Registration is transferable prior to the commencement of the QLS & FLPA Family Law Residential 2017. All transfer of registration requests must be submitted in writing to events@qls.com.au for approval, prior to 13 July 2017.

Can I cancel and refund my registration?

Registration may be cancelled and a refund issued, less a $50 administration fee, up to five business days prior to 13 July 2017.

Cancellations received within five business days of an event but prior to the registration closing date will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the registration fee. Registration is transferable to a substitute delegate, DVD or alternate event.

Cancellations received after the registration closing date will incur a cancellation fee of 100% of the registration fee; however registration is transferable to a substitute delegate, DVD resource or alternate event. Delegates who fail to attend an event without prior notification will forego the entire registration fee. Cancellation and refund requests due to exceptional circumstances such as sudden illness or injury, for example, will be considered. Such requests should be forwarded in writing, as soon as practicable, to events@qls.com.au.

Are there other options available if I am unable to attend the Residential?

Yes. Residential sessions will be filmed across both-days and available on DVD. The DVDs can be purchased in advance online at the same price as face-to-face attendance. Earlybird rates also apply for DVD purchases.

What CPD points are applicable for the 2017/18 CPD year?

Day 1: full day attendance on Friday 14 July entitles you to claim 5.5 points.

Day 2: full day attendance on Saturday 15 July entitles you to claim 5 points.

Both-days: attendance on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 July entitles you to claim up to 10.5 points.

Delegates may be eligible for the full complement of core subjects for the 2017/2018 CPD year including Professional Skills, Practical Legal Ethics and Practice Management & Business Skills. For further details please refer to the program.

CPD points gained at the Residential will automatically be added to your record for 2017/2018 CPD year. You can view or keep a record of your CPD points by simply logging on the QLS website and updating your member record with details of your CPD activity.

Are there special accommodation rates available to Residential attendees?

Yes. A special accommodation rate of $225 per night for the Mirage Resort Room has been negotiated for Residential attendees at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort.

Is parking available at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort?

Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort is pleased to offer self and valet parking in their underground carpark. A height restriction of 1.97 metres applies. Self-parking is complimentary and valet parking is available for $30 per night. The car park is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

When will presenter materials be available?

Presenter materials will be made available for download via the Residential website on Tuesday 11 July 2017. Delegates will also be notified by email.
